6th Grade Outdoor Classroom

Every year the commissioners sponsor an outdoor field day at Kindlespire Park.  The event is an "educational day" to learn more about our natural resources and specific areas of conservation from local people throughout our community. Students rotate between 9 stations for 20 minute sessions to learn about a wide variety of topics. These topics included: Birds, Wetlands, Bats, Forestry, Fishing, Bees, Water Quality, Fire Safety and Hiking. Our thanks to the presenters that volunteer their time every year to make this a successful day. On May 9th, 2007, 190+ students from Johnson, Lincoln, Fairview, Sacred Heart, South Clay, Clay Central/Everly, and Iowa Lakes Lutheran sixth grade classes attended accompanied by teachers and chaperones.
